Malunggay Stew

Here's Puffy nibbling on his favorite malunggay stew. I am really amused with this feline because compared to the cats I had before, he's the only one who enjoys eating cooked malunggay leaves. Others prefer to have fish bones for their meals.

Here's what I do to Puffy's malunggay stew:

Ingredients:
  • malunggay leaves, washed and removed from its stem
  • salt
  • a pint monosodium glutamate (optional)
  • a slice of fried fish (without the bones)
  • 1 whole ripe tomato, sliced
  • 5 leaves of lemon grass
  • a glass of water
Steps:

1. Pour the water in a pan, then put the sliced tomato, the lemon grass, the fried fish, and a little of the salt. Boil the mixture in a medium fire for 15 minutes.

2. Season with monosodium glutamate to taste.

3. Let it boil for another minute then add the malunggay leaves.

4. Simmer for 30 seconds then removed from fire.

5. Then put the stewed malunggay on a platter and let it cool before I serve it with rice to Puffy.

I usually don't include the soup anymore because Puffy is not fond of taking in seasoned liquid.
